Acceleration and Extension Opportunities

Acceleration

Individualised Acceleration

Students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and achievement may be offered the opportunity to undertake an individualised acceleration program. For example, where a student achieves exceptional outcomes in Stage 4 Mathematics, under the approval by the College Principal that student may be offered the opportunity to participate in a Stage 5 Mathematics classroom setting.

HSC Acceleration Program

Where a student has demonstrated a talent in a particular course, the student may begin studying Stage 6 (HSC) in an appropriate course. The accelerated subject undertaken counts towards the students Higher School Certificate results obtained in advance of their cohort. Accelerating students complete all assessment tasks (or their equivalent) that are undertaken by students completing the usual HSC program.

This early completion may allow students to take on fewer subjects in Year 12, enabling them to concentrate their time and energy on their remaining courses. By doing so, students can enhance their overall performance and achieve their academic goals with greater focus and dedication.

Our HSC Acceleration Program is at the discretion of the College Principal.

Stage 4 Extension

Year 7 Academic Extension Class

As part of our Year 7 Teaching and Learning Program, we offer the opportunity for students to apply for a place in our Academic Extension Class.  This class follows the standard curriculum however, with additional enrichment tasks in English, Humanities, Mathematics, and Science. This allows students to deepen their academic talent in a collegiate atmosphere and develop leadership skills, personal confidence, and resilience.

Prospective students are provided the opportunity to register for the Academic Extension Class test in the year prior to commencing at the College.
