Mathematics
The Mathematics faculty is a team of teachers passionate about the teaching and learning of Mathematics. Students are encouraged to recognise the importance of Mathematics in their daily lives, to work to their ability, taking responsibility for their learning and developing the appropriate skills in becoming numerate members of the broader community.
The Year 7- 10 syllabus consists of the following strands including Working mathematically:
- number and algebra
- measurement and geometry
- statistics and probability.
Working mathematically is embedded in the outcomes, content and examples of the syllabus.
Working mathematically presents students with the opportunity to develop proficiency in:
- problem solving
- communicating
- understanding and fluency
- reasoning
Stage 5 Mathematics is offered as Pathways:
- Mathematics Core Standard
- Mathematics Core Advanced
In Stage 6 the study of mathematics is optional. Courses offered include:
- Mathematics Advanced
- Mathematics Extension 1
- Mathematics Extension 2
- Mathematics Standard 1
- Mathematics Standard 2
