Mission
Catholic Identity
The formation of students in Catholic discipleship is at the heart of St Paul’s College. St Paul’s is a Catholic community that visibly shares the mission of the local Church. It is a place that shares a common purpose with the Diocese: “… to evangelise, to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, gathered as friends in the Lord and sent out to be missionary disciples.” (The Diocesan Charter). In partnership with parents as the first faith educators of their children and the local parish community, the College seeks to provide authentic, professional Catholic Education, inspiring hearts and minds to know Christ, to love learning, to use their talents to be the very best they can be.
The school’s Catholic identity is embedded into school life in a number of ways.
At the first level, St Paul’s provides a robust curriculum in Religious Education classes from Years 7 – 12. Each day, the whole school will stop to pray the Angelus. Each student will attend class Mass and whole school Masses such as the Feast of St Paul and Year 12 Graduation. Our College hosts Liturgies that follow the Catholic Cycle such as Ash Wednesday and Holy Week Liturgies. Year groups have their own days set aside for reflection and retreats including Year 7’s Spirituality of our site, Year 8’s Care for our Common Home, Year 9’s Catching the Wave, Year 10’s Crossroads and our three day, overnight Senior Retreat.
The second level is invitational through the College, providing a number of opportunities for individual students to explore their faith and to help in Youth Ministry. These include the CSBB Belong day (Year 7), Alpha Bites (Year 7), Beta Bites (Year 8), CSYMI classes (Year 10) and Bible study group.
The third level is where interested students will attend Youth Ministry festivals and activities outside of the College. These including Shine, Venio, Ignite. From there, St Paul’s helps interested students attend the Australian Catholic Youth Festival and from there, World Youth Day. In addition to this, the College invites the extended community of St Paul’s to participate in the mission life of the College through events such as the Mother’s Liturgy and morning tea on the Feast of the Annunciation, the Grandparents Liturgy and morning tea on the feast of Anne and Joachim (Jesus’ grandparents), Mother’s Day Mass and Father’s Day Breakfast.
