Wellbeing
Award System
At St Paul’s Catholic College, we are dedicated to helping each student achieve their full potential. We offer numerous opportunities for students to excel and celebrate their unique talents and contributions.
Our Award System is designed to honour students for their dedication, involvement, and achievements. We encourage students to engage in a variety of activities, leveraging their skills and enthusiasm with integrity and pride. Recognising students’ accomplishments not only boosts their self-esteem but also fosters a sense of belonging within the community. Even small achievements are acknowledged, and over time, these can lead to higher honours. Additionally, students earn House points for each formal award they receive, further motivating their efforts and engagement.
Merits System
The merit system at St Paul’s works in conjunction with the level system and aims to give positive reinforcement to students in recognition of their contribution to any aspect of their schooling.
- It is envisaged that every student, regardless of their academic ability or previous performance, will be eligible to receive merits
- Each time a student exhibits consistent positive behaviour, outstanding conduct or goes above and beyond the expectations of a student, the student should be issued with a merit.
Examples of behaviours that would warrant a merit:
- Involvement in a community service event
- Consistent high effort and application in class over a period of time
- Outstanding formal/informal assessment item
- Consistent high levels of behaviour in class or around the College over a period of time
- Valued contribution to the College
- Outstanding sportsmanship shown at a representative sporting fixture.

These students show genuine engagement in whole-class, small group and individual activities, complete class tasks and home-study with interest and care, contribute positively to the learning environment and are consistently organised and prepared for class.
